Today....

We have been continuing on with our CORE KNOWLEDGE venture today - focusing on learning aspects of science, poetry, and simple rhyming patterns in both songs and poems. BIBLE scripture is brought into our education - at least twice daily. We are ALMOST finished with Charlotte's Web - today or tomorrow - at which point - we will ALL begin reading The Chronicles of Narnia (not just some of us). Music enrichment has been part of our study today - we foused mostly on hymns - but also on favorite classics - and we have DANCE enrichment today(they love DANCE). Following directions also continues to be an important facet of CCA (will it ever not be?) .
Becauses CCA wants frugality to be a way of life (a quality education doesn't have to be expensive), after dance - we are picking up some FREE math manipulatives on the way home. It doesn't get much better than that!

At School

We continue reading Charlotte's Web, Prince Caspian, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe - as well as the Bible and several devotional books in our home today! We also are continuing our study of nursery rhymes, poetry, and familiar tunes. Today we have focused on spelling, simple words, creative story writing, following multi-step directions, art appreciation, and math in the form of shape identifications and simple addition. We are exploring current events and discussing the relevance of said current events with what is written/predicted by GOD in the Bible. CCA has found several websites which we will draw your attention to in the future. Here are some of our favorites to date: http://www.simplycharlottemason.com/,
http://www.justmommies.com/ (type in homeschool)
Please feel free to share some of your homeschool favorites as we continue to venture forth!

Today at CCA

We are studying about spiders. We are working on improving our handwriting and writing skills. We are working on simple math facts - including numbers, shapes, and telling time. We are discussing Christ's return and what to look for (we think that the fact that Israel is on the move in the Gaza strip is rather important). We are reading Charlotte's Web by E.B. White and we are reading several stories written by Beatrix Potter. We are also working on some of the Christian traditional hymns! It is a busy day here at CCA!
Blessings!
